Master Instrumentation Technician (Calibration)
Summary:
Master Instrumentation Technicians will perform routine and highly complex work related to the troubleshooting, repair and calibration of electronic, electro-mechanical and mechanical test and measurement equipment. Troubleshooting and repair capabilities of the Master Instrumentation Technician will be to the component level. This work may be performed in the calibration laboratory or at the customer site. Master Instrumentation Technicians should possess strong analytical, process and utilities calibration skills as well as a sound understanding of regulatory requirements. Master Instrumentation Technicians will be responsible for the development of Standard Operating Procedures, Forms, Work Instructions, regulatory requirement documents and procedures and assist management with laboratory operations as well as general management and oversight for field service operations. Master Instrumentation Technicians will be responsible for the oversight and training of lower level technicians. Master Instrumentation Technicians will use calibration procedures and measurement systems on customer equipment in compliance with requirements. They will be able to work primarily without supervision. Will be required to provide input for reviews/evaluations.
Experience:
(10+) year's instrument maintenance/calibration experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical or related industries. One (1) to three (3) years experience as a manager, supervisor or lead technician.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent and graduate of technical vocational school or AA/AS in Electronics required. Bachelors in Electronics/Technology/Engineering preferred.
Requirements, including but not limited to:
(a) Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation to the component level, including reading schematics
(b) Good understanding of PLC function, programming and automation
(c) Strong ability to manage and train multiple levels of calibration technicians
(d) Strong oral and written communication skills
(e) Computer literacy and database knowledge. Calibration systems required.
(f) Understanding of cGMP's, and ISO concepts and practices
(g) Capability to work on multiple tasks and set priorities
(h) Capable of leading cross-functional teams
(i) Master Instrumentation Technicians are designees for Operations Management for technical decisions, document access and approvals, and will provide input for evaluations
(j) Proficient in a wide variety of instrument calibrations and techniques, especially with regulated industries, to include field service
(k) Understanding of metrology terms, techniques, and applications. ASQ Certified Technician preferred.
